A. Adding Polynomials
  1. Drop the parentheses.
  2. Combine like terms.
  3. Put terms in alphabetical order or descending order by powers.
B. Subtracting Polynomials
  1. Change all subtraction to "adding the opposite" when necessary.
  2. Distribute the negative to the second set of parentheses.
  3. Combine like terms.
  4. Put terms in alphabetical order or descending order by powers.
C. Multiplying Two Binomials
  1. Use the distributive property: F-O-I-L
  2. Combine like terms.
  3. Put terms in descending order.
D. Multiplying a Binomial and a Trinomial
  1. Distribute each term of the binomial to each term of the trinomial.
  2. Combine like terms.
  3. Put terms in descending order.
