Definition
when heat is transferred through a material by the collisions of adjacent atoms or molecules
Example
Heat is conducted through the window panes in your house. The amount of heat conducted is directly proportional to the surface area of each pane and is inversely proportional to the thickness of the glass. The amount of heat conducted also increases as the difference between the inside and outside temperatures increases.
