Bank Teller

A Bank Teller conducts most of a banks routine transactions. They cash checks, accept deposits and payments, process withdrawals, sell savings bonds, process paperwork, sell travelers checks, and do a little work in customer service. This occupation does not require any college education but employers prefer applicants with at least a High School Diploma. Tellers also need to have excellent math skills and be comfortable with handling large sums of cash. Like a cashier, a Bank Teller has a cash drawer that they use to complete transactions. They also need to have some computer skills as most banks now use machines to keep track of money and verify transactions. Mental Math and Business Math would be an advantage to any Bank Teller. In 1997 the median earnings of a Bank Teller was $17,200.
